That
in (the last revolution of time) , the (slacker) generation
to come (from out of the West - GenX) might
know (by actually seeing) the children (nation, family to
come) [which] shall be born; (Millennialists)
[who] shall rise to accomplish, (make good, make their mark,
celebrate) and declare [them] in turn to their children: That
they might set their hope in (the surpreme and greatest just)
God, and not forget the works of (this Almighty powerful)
God, but keep his commandments.
And
might not be as their fathers (Boomers), a stubborn
and rebellious generation;(wouldn't listen and wouldn't
do it) a generation [that] set not their heart aright,
(would not stand up at the centre for anything) and whose
spirit was not stedfast with God. (didn't hang in )
The
children of Ephraim, being armed (equipped with weapons),
[and] carrying bows, turned back (became perversely converted
back) in the day of battle. (Given both short and long-range
firepower but gave up just when they most needed to fight)
They
kept not (did not guard or build a hedge about) the covenant
of God and (utterly) refused to walk in his law (Broke
both His rules & their promises)
And
forgat (became oblivious by not paying attention to) his works,
(thoroughly effecting exploits) and his wonders (distinctive
marvels & miracles) that he had shewed them. (Paid
no attention to the purpose of the power and the miracles)
